Questions, answered.
How do I lock my keyboard on a Mac to clean it?
Open CleanLock from the menu bar (or press Control + Option + Command + L), pick a duration and click Lock. A full-screen overlay covers every display, so keystrokes and clicks do nothing until the timer ends or you unlock.
Does CleanLock lock the trackpad too?
Yes. Trackpad and mouse clicks are ignored while the lock is on. The pointer can still move, but nothing happens except the unlock gesture you chose.
How do I unlock?
Wait for the timer to finish, or use your unlock mode: ESC three times (the default), a timed click, the 3-dot sequence or your own key combination. With ∞ selected, CleanLock unlocks itself after 30 minutes as a safety net.
Does CleanLock need Accessibility permission?
No. CleanLock needs no Accessibility, Input Monitoring or other special permissions. It locks with a full-screen overlay instead of reading your keystrokes.
Can I clean the screen too?
Yes. The Screen Clean appearance turns every display pure black so dust stands out; right-click to switch to white and spot fingerprints. The on-screen text fades after a few seconds so it does not get in the way.
Do any keys still work while the Mac is locked?
Keys that macOS handles itself — power and Touch ID, brightness, volume and media keys — can still act. For a thorough clean of those keys, put your Mac to sleep first.
How much does CleanLock cost?
